Overview

IC Pneumatic Forklifts in Northern Virginia

Where work happens outdoors, on rough or uneven ground, or in continuous heavy duty, an internal-combustion pneumatic-tire truck remains the right tool. Pneumatic tires absorb surface irregularities that would make a cushion-tire truck unusable, and LP or diesel power delivers sustained output without charging windows. This is also where the heavy capacities live — beyond roughly 12,000 lb, internal combustion is generally the practical answer.

  • Works where electric cannot
  • Refuel in minutes rather than charging for hours
  • Reaches capacities electric trucks do not
  • Simple, well-understood maintenance

IC Pneumatic Forklifts questions

1

LP or diesel?

LP burns cleaner and is the usual choice where a truck moves between outdoors and a well-ventilated indoor area. Diesel delivers more torque and better fuel economy in sustained heavy outdoor duty, and is generally the answer at the top of the capacity range. Neither belongs in an enclosed space without proper ventilation.

2

What is the difference between pneumatic and solid-pneumatic?

Air-filled pneumatic tires ride better on rough ground and are the better choice on genuinely poor surfaces. Solid-pneumatic tires have the same tread profile but cannot puncture, which matters in yards with debris, scrap or nails. On sites where flats are a recurring cost, solid usually pays for itself.

3

Can I run an IC truck indoors?

With adequate ventilation and appropriate monitoring, LP trucks operate indoors in many warehouses. But if the work is predominantly indoors, electric is the better answer on running cost, emissions and noise, and we will say so.
