The line

Why we quote Yale

The most useful thing to understand about Yale is its relationship to Hyster. Both are Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, and they share a substantial amount of engineering and componentry along with a common parts and service network. Where they differ is positioning: Hyster is pitched at the heavy industrial end, Yale more at warehouse, distribution and general material handling. For a buyer that means a used Yale gives you Hyster-grade parts support in a package usually aimed at lighter, cleaner work.

That makes Yale a strong fit for the distribution side of this market — the I-66 and Route 28 corridor around Gainesville, the newer I-66 interchange buildings, and the Reston and Reston waterfront redevelopment. Finished slabs, steady pallet throughput and racked storage are the conditions Yale warehouse equipment was designed around, and used units from those environments tend to have had an easier life than a port machine of the same age.

Pricing is the practical draw. Yale typically sits below Toyota on the used market for comparable specification and condition, without the parts-availability risk that comes with more obscure makes. For a buyer who wants a dependable second or third truck and does not need the resale premium Toyota commands, it is frequently the better value on the quote.

Before you buy

Buying Yale used: what to check

These separate a good used truck from an expensive one, and all of them are checkable before you commit.

Parts support is the same as Hyster

Because Hyster-Yale is one company, a used Yale carries the same parts and service depth as a Hyster. That is a meaningful advantage over makes with thinner networks, especially on older units.

Ask what environment it worked in

Yale warehouse equipment from a clean distribution building typically has had a far easier life than a same-age machine from a yard or port operation. Provenance affects condition more than age does.

Battery age on electric units

As with any used electric truck, the battery is the biggest hidden cost. We ask for manufacture date and cycle count, not just truck hours.

Mast and chain measurement

Chain stretch beyond tolerance and worn mast rollers are the two items that most often make a cheap used truck expensive. Both are measurable before purchase and we check both.

Questions

Yale questions

1

Where can I buy a used Yale forklift in the Dulles corridor?

Dulles Forklifts sources and sells reconditioned Yale forklifts throughout the Dulles corridor — Sterling, Ashburn, Chantilly, Manassas, Gainesville and Leesburg. We do not carry Yale new; our used inventory spans all major manufacturers. Call (703) 000-0000 for current availability.

2

Is a used Yale forklift a good value compared with Toyota?

Often, yes. Yale typically prices below Toyota on the used market for comparable specification and condition, and because Hyster-Yale is a single company the parts and service network is deep. You give up some of Toyota's resale retention, so if you plan to resell in a few years Toyota may still be the better math. For a truck you intend to keep and work, Yale is frequently the stronger buy.

3

What is the difference between Hyster and Yale forklifts?

They are built by the same parent company and share substantial engineering, components and their parts network. The difference is positioning: Hyster is aimed at heavier industrial and port applications, Yale more at warehouse and distribution work. If you already run one brand, adding the other is much simpler than introducing an unrelated make.

4

Do you deliver used Yale forklifts across the Dulles corridor area?

Yes. We deliver throughout the Dulles corridor and the surrounding Anne Arundel, Howard and the Dulles corridor County areas. Delivery includes a walkthrough of the controls, the capacity data plate, OSHA daily inspection points, and charging or fueling requirements.
